Steps in the Sand: James' Endeavour in the Marathon des Sables

For those who might not be aware, the Marathon des Sables is not your average marathon. It's an ultra-marathon, extending over approximately 251km (roughly the distance of six standard marathons) through the unforgiving terrains of the Moroccan Sahara. Participants have to endure six days of relentless desert heat, trudging through soft sands and scaling daunting sand dunes. What adds to the complexity of this challenge is that each participant must be self-sufficient, carrying all their own supplies for the week, save for water, which is rationed and provided at checkpoints.

James' ultimate goal is to raise funds and awareness for Autism Guernsey, Jersey Hospice and Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief. These are three charities that have been carefully chosen by our directors, James, and members of the Redwood team, due to their close alignment with causes that we deeply care about and consider important in our community. Preparation for an event of this magnitude requires immense dedication and intense training. James will be committing the next year to prepare for this extreme endurance event.
