Celebrating career growth: Q&A with Tracy Bisson

Congratulations on your recent promotion! What position did you get promoted to and what are your new responsibilities?

I've recently been promoted from Head of Compliance to Managing Director of the Guernsey compliance business at Redwood Group. In this new role, I'll continue overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team and ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients. Alongside my responsibilities as Managing Director, I've also been appointed to the board of Redwood Co Sec Limited, a position that underscores the trust and confidence placed in my leadership and strategic vision.

Additionally, I'll be focusing on fostering business growth, maintaining budgetary constraints, ensuring competitiveness in the market, and exploring innovative ways to deliver our services.

Can you walk us through your career journey leading up to this point?

Before Redwood, I had worked at SG Kleinwort Hambros for over 30 years. Starting as a junior in the banking team, I eventually rose to the position of Head of Channel Islands Compliance, managing a pan-island team and holding key roles such as Group MLRO and interim Group Head of Compliance. These experiences have shaped my expertise and leadership style, leading me to this current role at Redwood Group.

What skills and competencies do you believe played a role in securing this promotion?

Oh, I’m not very good at this bit! I would hope that my dedication, calm demeanour, commitment to high standards of service and extensive knowledge have contributed to this promotion.

How do you think Redwood's company culture has contributed to your growth?

Since joining Redwood, I have received unparalleled support at every turn. My skills and effectiveness as a Compliance Officer/MLRO/MLCO have significantly improved compared to my previous position. This enhancement stems from my current role's strong alignment with the hands-on compliance responsibilities I am passionate about, in contrast to my prior position, which was more centred on achieving group objectives and team management.

My roles within Redwood are varied and span several different licenses, which brings challenges and makes every day interesting – there is never a dull day!

Redwood is a great team to be part of where everyone has a chance to flourish. Working alongside James has been an absolute pleasure - there is never a day that goes by when I do not learn something new.

What's next for you at Redwood Group?

My focus remains on making a substantial and lasting contribution to Redwood's future growth. We are at a critical juncture as we expand into new jurisdictions, and my commitment is to steer our team through this exciting phase of development. I am deeply invested in the long-term success of Redwood Group and look forward to playing a pivotal role in our strategic expansion, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed our goals in the coming years.
